List of Leaders Who Might Face Defeat In 2027 Following Raila's Death, Reason Revealed

The passing of former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga has created a significant void in Kenya’s political scene as the country heads toward the 2027 General Election.

For decades, Raila was a key player whose leadership and influence cut across both government and opposition politics.

His absence is now reshaping alliances and leaving many leaders uncertain about their future.

President William Ruto is among those expected to feel the effects of Raila’s death.

Observers believe that Ruto’s path to re-election depended partly on Raila’s cooperation, especially after losing strong support from the Mt. Kenya region.

Without Raila’s influence, it may become harder for him to win over ODM-dominated areas such as Nyanza, Western, and the Coast.

In Homa Bay, Governor Gladys Wanga faces an unpredictable political future. Her 2022 victory was largely credited to Raila’s backing.

which united ODM supporters in the region. Without his presence, she might encounter growing resistance from local rivals.

Similarly, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, who once benefited from Raila’s political intervention during an impeachment scare, now faces uncertainty in his re-election bid.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, one of Raila’s close allies, may find it difficult to sustain his influence both in the party and Nairobi politics.

In Mombasa, Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, who won under the ODM wave, could also face a challenging race in the next election as the party struggles to stay united.

Many ODM leaders across Luo Nyanza, Western, and Nairobi are expected to experience political turbulence without Raila’s guiding hand.

Analysts predict that his death will not only shift political loyalties but also redefine Kenya’s overall balance of power as the nation prepares for the 2027 polls.
