Ruto Set for Major Cabinet Reshuffle to Strengthen 2027 Political Alliances

President William Ruto is reportedly on the verge of making significant changes to his Cabinet in the coming days, with sources suggesting that the reshuffle will accommodate more political figures.

Particularly from the ODM party of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and the KANU party associated with former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

According to political insiders, this move is aimed at strengthening Ruto’s political alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election. However, expanding the Cabinet to include new leaders .

Some current Cabinet Secretaries will either be reassigned to other ministries or completely dropped from the government lineup.

Among those rumored to be on the chopping block is Wycliffe Oparanya, who reportedly fell out with his party leader, the late Raila Odinga, before Raila’s demise.

It is said that Raila had initially planned to remove Oparanya from his political circle, a move that might now influence Ruto’s decision to replace him under ODM’s influence.

Another Cabinet Secretary whose position appears shaky is Mugaa, the CS for Water and Sanitation.

Sources claim his lack of strong political background and limited influence might work against him.

As Ruto seeks to bring in leaders who can boost his political muscle heading into the next elections.

Additionally, Hon. Hanna Cheptumo, the Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage, might also be replaced.

She was appointed after the passing of her husband, but her non-political background could see her edged out in favor of more politically experienced figures.

While these are merely opinions and speculations, many believe President Ruto’s upcoming reshuffle will be strategic.

Aimed at consolidating his power base and building alliances crucial for defending his seat in 2027.

Ultimately, time will tell which Cabinet Secretaries survive the looming political shake-up.
