"They Meant to Kill Me" – Emotional Video of Jirongo Resurfaces Telling Daughter's Boyfriend's Death

A decade-old television interview of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has resurfaced, offering a deeply emotional glimpse into one of the most painful chapters of his life and revealing the personal tragedy that haunted him beyond the political spotlight.

In the clip, recorded during an appearance on Jeff Koinange’s talk show, Jirongo is seen recounting the brutal killing of his daughter’s American boyfriend in Nairobi.

Speaking with visible emotion, the former politician narrated how his daughter, Sally, and her boyfriend, Cameron Chase, were attacked while driving along Riara Road on their way to a coffee date.

According to Jirongo, the couple was ambushed by two men riding a motorcycle who demanded that Chase surrender his laptop.

When he refused and attempted to shield Sally from harm, the attackers shot him. Chase later succumbed to his injuries, a loss that left the family devastated.

“I have this message here, Jeff. It was sent to my daughter, Sally. On Riara Road, two men stopped them. They demanded the young man’s computer. He tried to protect my daughter, and they shot him,” Jirongo said during the interview, struggling to contain his emotions.

He also spoke about the lasting impact of the tragedy on his daughter, revealing that Sally traveled to the United States to bury her boyfriend and had not returned to Kenya at the time of the interview.

Jirongo further speculated that the threatening message linked to the attack may have been intended for him, despite the fact that his daughter was not involved in politics.

The resurfaced footage has stirred strong reactions among Kenyans, many of whom have reflected on the heavy personal burdens carried by public figures.
