Osotsi Raises Alarm as he Alleges the Hidden Secret Over Winnie Odinga's Push for ODM Deputy Leader Role

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has raised concerns over what he described as a possible hidden agenda behind the growing push to elevate Winnie Odinga to the position of deputy party leader within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

His remarks come at a time when internal party activities are intensifying ahead of a crucial leadership convention.

Speaking during a press briefing in Sabatia Constituency on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Osotsi warned that the campaign supporting Winnie’s elevation could be driven by forces seeking to achieve broader political objectives within the party.

He suggested that her candidature might be used to legitimise the upcoming National Delegates’ Convention (NDC), which he claimed has not been properly or legally convened.

The senator pointed to a faction within ODM, commonly referred to as the Linda Ground group, which he linked to Oburu Odinga.

According to Osotsi, the faction could be strategically positioning Winnie Odinga as part of a plan to justify decisions expected to be made during the convention scheduled for March 27, 2026.

Despite raising the alarm, Osotsi maintained that Winnie Odinga has a democratic right to contest for any leadership position within the party.

However, he cautioned her to exercise vigilance and avoid being drawn into internal political manoeuvres that could affect her credibility and political future.

“On the issue of Winnie, she has a democratic right to contest any seat, whether party leader or deputy party leader, but I want to caution her to tread very carefully. Those from Linda Ground would want to use her to justify what they are going to do on March 27,” Osotsi said.

He added that his camp, the Linda Mwananchi faction, remains focused on what he termed as fighting for the integrity and future of ODM, rather than engaging in personal political battles.

The remarks highlight deepening divisions within ODM as rival factions continue to position themselves ahead of the upcoming convention.
