Atwoli Publicly Warns Sifuna Against Trusting Uhuru Kenyatta Ahead of 2027 Elections

Central Organisation of Trade Unions boss Francis Atwoli has issued a direct public warning to Kenya Kwanza Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, advising him not to rely on former President Uhuru Kenyatta for his political future.

Speaking at a recent event, Atwoli cautioned Sifuna against placing his hopes on the former head of state as the country gears up for the 2027 general elections.

The remarks have drawn significant attention within political circles, with many interpreting them as a sign of deepening divisions and realignments ahead of the polls.

Atwoli, known for his strong influence in labour movements and politics, emphasized the need for independent strategies rather than depending on past alliances.

Edwin Sifuna, a vocal member of the ruling coalition, now finds himself at the centre of scrutiny following the advice.

Political observers suggest the message reflects ongoing tensions between different factions as leaders position themselves for the next electoral contest.

Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained a relatively low profile since leaving office, but speculation about his potential role in future politics continues to circulate.

The development adds to the already charged atmosphere in Kenyan politics. With recent controversies surrounding issues like the proposed Ebola quarantine centre and public calls for accountability, the warning from Atwoli highlights the complex web of relationships shaping the path to 2027.

Analysts believe such public statements could influence how younger politicians like Sifuna navigate alliances.

As parties begin serious preparations, the focus remains on how these interactions will affect emerging coalitions and individual political trajectories in the coming months.
