President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that the 2027 General Election will be peaceful and transparent, dismissing claims by opposition leaders that his administration is planning to manipulate the polls.
Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast held in Nairobi on Thursday, President Ruto said his government remains committed to upholding democracy and respecting the will of the people.
The Head of State emphasized that it is God and the Kenyan electorate who will determine the country’s leadership after the next election.
Ruto stated that there is no intention whatsoever to rig the 2027 elections, maintaining that his administration believes in free and fair democratic processes.
He accused some opposition politicians of spreading fear and misinformation for political mileage ahead of the campaigns.
“We want a peaceful country in 2027. There will be no violence, no chaos, and no interference with the democratic process.
It is God who decides leadership, and the people of Kenya will freely make their choice,” Ruto said during the prayer gathering attended by political leaders, clergy, and senior government officials.
The President further noted that he would appreciate earning a second term if Kenyans find his leadership worthy, but insisted that the final decision rests with voters and divine will.
Ruto also called on politicians across the political divide to avoid divisive rhetoric that could heighten political tensions in the country.
He urged leaders to embrace unity, tolerance, and issue-based politics as the country gradually approaches the next election cycle.
The National Prayer Breakfast brought together leaders from different sectors who prayed for peace, unity, and stability in Kenya.
The annual event has traditionally served as a platform for reflection and national dialogue among political and religious leaders.
The President’s remarks come amid increasing political debate over the credibility and preparedness of the country’s electoral process ahead of 2027.
