Didmus Barasa Tears Into Omanga’s Bread-and-Milk Campaign, Says Gachagua’s Nairobi Strategy Is Misguided

Political temperatures continue to rise ahead of the 2027 General Election after Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa launched a scathing attack on former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga over her recent outreach activities in Nairobi.

The outspoken lawmaker criticized Omanga's distribution of bread and branded milk to residents in parts of the capital, claiming the initiative reflected a flawed political strategy associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Barasa questioned whether such gestures could genuinely convince Nairobi voters to support a political movement seeking to challenge President William Ruto's administration.

According to Barasa, relying on handouts as a political tool demonstrates a lack of understanding of the issues that matter most to urban voters.

He argued that residents of Nairobi are increasingly focused on long-term solutions to unemployment, business opportunities, infrastructure, and the cost of living rather than short-term symbolic gestures.
