"I'm Surprised" Wamalwa Opens Up On Gen Z Leaders Supporting Ruto, Tells Youth Which Camp To Join

DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa has expressed surprise over some Gen Z voices that have shifted to supporting President William Ruto's administration, urging young people to instead work closely with the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during an interview on Spice FM on Tuesday, June 23, Wamalwa said some of the young people who were previously vocal during anti-government campaigns have since crossed over and are now defending the government.

He said the shift has left many people shocked, especially because some of those individuals had previously engaged with opposition leaders.

Wamalwa also extended his criticism to some churches, saying a section that had been vocal on governance issues had become silent. However, he praised the Catholic Church for remaining consistent on matters such as taxation, extrajudicial killings and human rights.

He further turned his attention to Gen Z, warning that remaining leaderless could weaken their influence in determining the country's future leadership.

Wamalwa urged the youth to abandon the idea of working in isolation and instead collaborate with experienced politicians who share their vision.

"As long as the Gen Z remain leaderless, they will not have a leader in State House. I am urging them to join hands with the opposition," he said.

He further called for all Gen Z to get united saying age and gender should not become barriers if people are united by common values and a shared vision for the country.

His remarks come as political realignments continue to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition leaders increasing efforts to attract young voters who played a major role in last year's nationwide protests. Follow us The Public Eye for following updates.
