Love Triangle: The Last Painful Words Anita Told Her Husband Minutes Before She Was Murdered

Fresh details have emerged surrounding the death of Anita Mugweru, a young accountant and mother who was allegedly killed by her husband, a Kenya Defence Forces captain, in Upper Hill Estate, Nakuru County.

According to accounts from a house helper who was present, the incident began as a routine evening after Anita returned from work.

The witness stated that the husband attempted to engage her immediately, but she requested time to rest first.

This is said to have triggered anger and a heated argument between the couple.

The disagreement reportedly escalated into accusations of infidelity from both sides.

In what are believed to be Anita’s final words, she is said to have confronted her husband over alleged cheating and suggested that a family meeting be arranged to resolve their marital issues peacefully.

Shortly afterward, the situation turned violent inside the home.

The househelp reported that the environment suddenly became quiet before she noticed movement toward the kitchen area.

She attempted to warn Anita, but the attack allegedly occurred before she could intervene.

Anita sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The househelp further stated that the husband later appeared at the hospital in a confused and unstable state, which prompted medical staff to alert police, leading to his arrest.

The case has sparked widespread public concern, with human rights advocates demanding a thorough investigation and justice for the victim.

Family members also revealed that Anita had previously raised concerns about tension in the marriage and had planned a meeting to address ongoing disputes that never took place.

In related court proceedings at the Nakuru High Court, the accused, Captain Edwin Kaunga Muthomi, is currently admitted at Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital for psychiatric evaluation, which has delayed his court appearance.

He faces charges over the killing of his 29-year-old wife, who was allegedly stabbed at their home in April 2026 in the presence of their four-year-old daughter.

Lawyers representing the victim’s family have asked for an independent mental assessment of the accused and raised concerns about alleged intimidation of key witnesses.

The court was also informed of several pending applications, including requests linked to the removal of an interested party and disclosure of certain case details.

Justice Patricia Gichohi directed all parties to file their applications within 14 days ahead of the next hearing scheduled for 14 July 2026.

The case continues as the court examines issues of mental fitness, witness protection, and legal disputes shaping the trial.
