‘Our children were murdered in cold blood’ - Families of slain Gen Z protesters issue six demands to RUTO ahead of June 25 anniversary

Ahead of the second anniversary of the June 25th, 2024 anti‑Finance Bill demonstrations, families of slain Gen Z protesters have issued six demands to the Government.

In a letter dated Thursday, June 18th, and addressed to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, the parents of slain protester Rex Masai notified police of a peaceful march scheduled for June 25th.

Gillian Munyao and Chrisphine Odawa, Masai’s parents, recalled their son’s death during the protests, accusing security officers of using excessive force.

“Our children were exercising their constitutional right to protest… They were murdered in cold blood, many shot in the back while fleeing,” the letter stated.

The families announced plans for a procession to Parliament and vigils across all 47 counties.
