Ruto Explodes at Gachagua: “You Don’t Know Who You’re Dealing With” as Political War Escalate

The political rivalry between President William Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua took a dramatic turn after the Head of State launched a sharp attack against his former ally during a public address.

Speaking before a charged crowd, Ruto dismissed Gachagua’s repeated claims that he would only serve one term in office, accusing the former deputy president of underestimating his political strength and influence across the country.

Someone who served only one term as an MP is telling me I will be a one-term president. You do not know who you are dealing with,” Ruto declared, drawing cheers from supporters.

The remarks mark the latest chapter in the growing fallout between the two leaders, whose relationship has deteriorated significantly since Gachagua left office.

Once key figures in the Kenya Kwanza alliance, the pair are now engaged in an increasingly public political battle that has reshaped the country's political landscape.

Ruto used the occasion to defend his administration’s development agenda, arguing that his government remains focused on delivering projects aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

He said his opponents were spending too much time on political campaigns instead of allowing the government to implement its plans.

The President also expressed confidence that voters would judge his leadership based on performance rather than political rhetoric.

According to him, ongoing investments in infrastructure, agriculture, affordable housing and job creation will strengthen public support ahead of the next General Election.

Gachagua has in recent months intensified criticism of the government, questioning several policy decisions and urging Kenyans to demand greater accountability from leaders.

The exchange underscores the widening divide within the political camp that swept to power i 2022.

With both leaders now openly confronting each other, political observers believe the rivalry could significantly influence alliances and power calculations as the country gradually shifts its focus toward the 2027 elections.
