The government has received a formal petition from protest organizers seeking police approval to hold a peaceful demonstration on planned June 25, 2026 Gen Z protests anniversary.
The delegation, led by Siaya Governor James Orengo and People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, marched to Jogoo House where they submitted their request and briefly engaged Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyagah.
According to the group, the planned procession is meant to commemorate victims who lost their lives during the June 25, 2024 anti-government protests.
They emphasized that the anniversary event will be conducted peacefully, with participants intending to honour the fallen through symbolic acts such as laying flowers and presenting a formal memorandum.
