Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has alleged that President William Ruto is working closely with his political opponents, accusing them of attempting to control the political direction of the Mount Kenya region.
His allies in the region now claim there is a broader plan aimed at reducing his influence by slashing his budget by 25 percent, including cuts to the Office of the former Deputy President, which they say would limit his ability to travel across the country.
They have warned that such a move would mark a major breaking point between their camp and the government, and have cautioned the Budget and Appropriations Committee against proceeding.
