Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has hit back at President William Ruto, telling him that he got into State House while singing a slogan.
This was after President Ruto blasted Sifuna over his remarks on the Affordable Housing Programme, calling him brainless.
During a live interview on Mulembe FM, Sifuna had jokingly questioned the suitability of high-rise houses for Luhya community.
"They have built 12-storey affordable housing units in Funyula. We Luhyas can't live in a place where our chickens can't. Tell me, boss, how will your chicken get to the 12th floor?" Sifuna said.
Ruto responded angrily at State House while meeting over 5,000 artisans and mechanics from Nairobi.
"There are people telling us that Kenyans should continue living in slums simply because a chicken cannot be taken to the 15th floor. Do these people really have any sense? There are people without brains," Ruto said.
In a quick rejoinder that is now viral, Sifuna reminded Ruto that he also rode to power on slogans.
"You got into State House while singing a slogan," Sifuna responded, referring to Ruto's famous Bottom-Up, Hustler Nation chants that propelled Kenya Kwanza to power in 2022.
Sifuna added: "To argue with me about chickens is like arguing with Methu about potatoes"

The clash is the latest over the Affordable Housing project, with the government defending it as a solution to housing deficit and job creation, while Sifuna and other opposition leaders question its implementation and porities.
The exchange has sparked heated debate online, with Kenyans divided over the chicken remarks.
