Jubilee Party Releases Public Statement on The Remarks Made by MP Wainaina

With the 2027 General Election just months away, political tensions are rising across Kenya.

In a major development today, the Jubilee Party issued a strong condemnation of remarks by Nominated Member of Parliament Joseph Wainaina warning that his words threaten to undo the country’s hard won peace.

The party released a press statement on August 31, 2026, through Secretary General Moitalel ole Kenta.

According to the statement, Wainaina called on members of a particular community to back a certain political arrangement and warned those unwilling to comply to leave the region until after the polls. Jubilee Party described that language as reckless, divisive, and dangerous.

The party reminded Kenyans of the painful lessons from the 2007 and 2008 post election violence, which claimed more than one thousand lives and displaced hundreds of thousands of families.

Communities that had lived together for generations turned against one another in the name of politics.

Jubilee Party stated that as a nation, Kenyans made a solemn promise never to allow such tragedy to happen again.

The party also took issue with leaders who have remained quiet, arguing that silence in the face of ethnic incitement is not neutrality but complicity.

It called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission to carry out its duties without delay.

The statement demanded that the commission formally investigate Wainaina’s remarks and act firmly and transparently if the law has been broken.
