ODM youth leader Kasmuel McOure has revealed that he was once blacklisted by President William Ruto’s security team due to an incident of misbehaviour.
During an interview on Monday, November 10, 2025, on the Oga Obinna YouTube podcast, McOure explained that he was barred from sitting near the President at public events.
He recounted that at a past event, he was explicitly prevented from occupying a front-row seat while Ruto was present.
“Remember first, nilikuwa nisha misbehave. Niliblacklistiwa kwa presidential na presidential security. So, place yote Prezzo ako, nakaziwa siwezi fika hiyo front row,” he said.
McOure admitted that his misbehaviour was the reason for the restriction but did not provide the exact details of the incident.
He described how even sitting in the second row was considered a privilege, while he had to remain further back during the President’s engagements.
The activist also shared a contrasting experience with Raila Odinga, recalling a time when he was invited by the ODM leader to a Madaraka Day event in Homa Bay.
Raila reportedly arranged for McOure to travel with him via helicopter, showing a personal connection that went beyond politics.
“I didn’t know Baba as a politician. I knew him as a friend. He treated me like a child of the home and trusted me with responsibilities,” McOure said.
Reflecting on Raila’s death, McOure described it as sudden and emotionally challenging, noting that it occurred shortly after discussions about his health.
He urged ODM members not to exploit Raila’s passing for political gain, stressing that his position could not be inherited but would be succeeded by someone chosen by the people.
McOure’s revelations offer insight into the contrasting experiences young political leaders face depending on their affiliations and relationships with senior figures.
His story highlights the complexities of political dynamics in Kenya, where personal connections and conduct can influence access to leadership circles.
