Woman Who Handed ODM Party to Raila Without Seeking Payment Speaks


As the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) marks its 20th anniversary, a woman who played a key role in its early days has shared her story of handing over the party to Raila Odinga without requesting any payment. 

Her revelation sheds light on the sacrifices made by ordinary Kenyans to shape the political landscape of the country.

Speaking during an anniversary event in Nairobi, the woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, 

Explained that she had legally registered the party but chose to transfer ownership to Raila Odinga in the interest of national unity and political progress. “It was never about money. 

My goal was to ensure that the party served the people and offered a platform for meaningful leadership,” she said.

She recalled the challenges faced during those early days, including limited resources and skepticism from political observers. 

Despite this, her decision to hand over the party without any financial gain demonstrated her commitment to Kenya’s democratic process.

Political analysts have described her actions as a significant turning point in Kenya’s political history. 

By placing the party in the hands of a respected national leader, she helped lay the foundation for ODM’s rise as one of Kenya’s major political parties.

ODM leaders and supporters have lauded her contribution, emphasizing that the party’s success over the past two decades is built on the selfless efforts of individuals like her.
