Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stirred new political debate by stating that Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna may soon join the unified opposition.
Kalonzo stated that the Opposition alliance welcomes all leaders, regardless of their current political parties, and that their unity is motivated by a desire to preserve Kenyans' interests.
Kalonzo indicated that the forming coalition will accept leaders from the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), Wiper, Democratic Action Party (DAP-K), and any other political group willing to support what he called a people-driven movement.
He stated that the Opposition's goal is to form a powerful front ahead of the 2027 General Election, and that additional leaders are anticipated to cross over in the coming months.
According to Kalonzo, Babu Owino and Senator Sifuna have demonstrated a dedication to protecting citizens' rights and opposing policies that they believe damage ordinary Kenyans.
He stated that their inclusion in the united Opposition would strengthen the coalition and offer citizens a more powerful voice.
In an unexpected twist, Kalonzo stated that Kenyans will eventually appreciate former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for "speaking the truth publicly."
He did not go into detail, but implied that Gachagua's recent political pronouncements had exposed facts that are now impacting national discourse and moving more leaders to the opposition.
Kalonzo asked leaders to set personal interests aside and work together to protect democracy, noting that the next chapter of Kenyan politics will demand guts and honesty.
He promised supporters that the Opposition will remain unified and will continue to mobilise leaders who are devoted to openness and accountability.
