Natembeya Warns of Plot to Use Ruto’s CS to Divide Western Kenya Votes Ahead of 2027 Elections

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has claimed that there is a political strategy aimed at weakening opposition influence in Western Kenya ahead of the 2027 General Election by targeting prominent regional leaders and reshaping political loyalties within the region.

Speaking on May 22, Natembeya alleged that certain political actors are attempting to sideline Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya from both government structures and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

According to the governor, the alleged objective is to create political divisions that could weaken opposition unity in one of the country's most influential voting blocs.

Natembeya suggested that efforts to portray Oparanya as a victim of political exclusion could generate public sympathy and potentially encourage him to chart an independent political path outside traditional party structures.

Such a development, he argued, could alter the political landscape in Western Kenya and create competing centers of influence within the opposition.
