A Lady Sends KSh 300,000 via M-Pesa to Her GSU Lover, Only to Realise He Is a Married Man With Kids

A woman from Machakos County has narrated how she allegedly lost more than KSh 300,000 after trusting a man she believed was her romantic partner while she was working in the Gulf region.

She now says the relationship turned out to be a deception that lasted for over two years.

According to her account, she met Erick Munyalo, a man said to be linked to the General Service Unit, in 2023.

Despite being in a long-distance relationship, she claims they communicated regularly and developed what she believed was a serious commitment that would lead to marriage.

Matiang’i said he had extensive experience in public administration and could help improve efficiency within government institutions.

The comments quickly generated reactions from Kenyans and political leaders, with some viewing the remarks as a light-hearted jab at the current administration, while others interpreted them as a sign of confidence in his leadership abilities.

What surprised many observers is that Matiang’i made the remarks despite being associated with the opposition coalition that has consistently criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration and called for political change ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Supporters praised the former Interior CS for highlighting what they believe are weaknesses within the government, while critics accused him of sending mixed political messages by offering assistance to a government he frequently criticises.

The remarks have added a new twist to the country's political conversation, with analysts saying they reflect Matiang’i's growing influence in national politics as discussions about the 2027 elections continue to gain momentum.

Neither President Ruto nor State House had publicly responded to Matiang’i's comments at the time of publication.
