All Eyes on James Orengo As MP Kimani Ichung'wah Claims He Ran Away During Previous Protests

Tensions are is rising in Kenyan politics after Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah publicly criticized Governor James Orengo during a church service in Kilgoris, Narok County. Ichung'wah accused the veteran opposition leader of hypocrisy regarding public protests.

Speaking at the event, Ichung'wah claimed that 26 years ago, he and Orengo participated in demonstrations together. According to the speaker, when police arrived during one such protest, Orengo fled the scene.

He suggested that Orengo now encourages young people to join protests while avoiding personal risk, adding that the senator wants other people's children to continue facing danger.

The remarks were captured and shared widely on social media by Lightcast TV Kenya, drawing significant attention.

Ichung'wah's statement appears to target Orengo's current stance on ongoing demonstrations, which have been marked by clashes between protesters and security forces.

Political observers note that the exchange highlights deep divisions between government allies and opposition figures. Orengo, known for his long history in advocacy and human rights, has not yet issued a direct response to the claims.

The incident has placed him under intense public scrutiny as debates continue over the role of leaders in guiding public action.

The accusations come amid broader concerns about political violence and the safety of citizens during protests.

Many Kenyans are watching closely to see how Orengo and other senior politicians address these personal and political challenges.

As the story spreads, it adds fuel to the ongoing conversation about leadership, accountability, and the cost of public dissent in the country.
