Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata has predicted a defeat for President William Ruto in next year's general election.
Kang'ata claims that Ruto's goose is already cooked, stating that he stands no chance of winning the election and securing another term.
This, he opines, is because the President has failed Kenyans and performed so dismally that nothing he does can make them consider him for another term.
According to the county chief, Kenyans have made up their minds after a long while of watching Ruto's bad work and nothing he does can reverse the situation.
He further pointed out that any attempt by Ruto to make amends now will be seen as just another political gimmick aimed at salvaging his career and not a genuine move aimed at benefitting the public.
“If, for instance, you remove the Housing Levy, the public will justify that as politically instigated. Voters would perceive such a move as an attempt to salvage political support rather than a response to public demands."
Kang'ata is not new to such predictions, considering that in December 2021, he predicted the late Raila Odinga's defeat in the 2022 presidential election.
Kang'ata, then a Ruto diehard, hit out at then President Uhuru Kenyatta of forcing Raila on Kenyans, at a time when Uhuru's government was committed to ensuring Raila defeats Ruto.
