The big boss in charge of security in Kenya, a man named Kipchumba Murkomen, has told the police to stop using heavy force and bad behavior on ordinary citizens.
Murkomen traveled to a school in Narok County to talk directly to the people living there.
Recently, some police officers went into the local villages and did very bad things while looking for criminals who steal cows.
The officers beat up innocent people, broke down their houses, and destroyed their properties.
The security boss said he was deeply sorry for what happened. He said that even though the police were trying to find bad guys, they had no right to hurt innocent people who did nothing wrong.
He explained that when police officers treat citizens badly, it causes a big division. It makes everyday people hate or fear the government instead of trusting it. Murkomen warned that this bad behavior actually hurts the safety of the whole country.
To fix this, the security minister has ordered the top police leader to investigate the officers who broke the law and punish them.
He wants the police to remember that their real job is to protect people and keep them safe, not to scare them or destroy their homes.
