The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has unravelled pivotal services Kenyans will be needed to pay for in order to be in a position to access them.
Addressing on June 22, 2026, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has made it a compulsory requirement for Kenyans seeking to apply as solar water heating contractor, vendor or manufacturer to pay a licensing fee of Ksh3,000.
EPRA has articulated that solar water heating licenses will be renewed at a cost of Ksh2,000 annually and will be issued to the applicants within a time frame of 30 days from the date of the application.
EPRA has further stated that Kenyans will be required to pay Ksh750 in order to apply for issuace of a licenses to solar photovoltaic technician.
EPRA has further stated that those Kenyan seeking to apply for licensing as a solar water heating worker will be required to pay a licensing fee of Ksh750 and will be entitled to an annual license renewal fee of Ksh1,500. The state agency stated that the latter will get their licences within a time frame of 60 days.
EPRA has further divulged that Kenyans willing to apply for licensing as a Solar PV contractor, vendor or manufacturer will be required to pay a licensing application fee of Ksh2,000 and will remit an annual licence renewal fee of Ksh2,000. The state agency stated that the licences will be issued within 60 days from the date of application.
