Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has once again stirred political debate after making a bold prediction about former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s political future.
Speaking in a statement that quickly spread across social media, Nyamu claimed that although Gachagua is currently associated with the "Wantam" political slogan, there could come a time when he changes his position and embraces a different political direction.
“I’m not a prophet but in the near future Rigathi atasema tutam! Na hio siku mimi ndio nitamkaribisha officially na hug moja mwecheche.
Wahenga hawataamini,” Nyamu remarked. Her comments have generated mixed reactions from Kenyans, with supporters and critics offering different interpretations of what she meant.
The former Deputy President has remained active in opposition politics and has repeatedly criticized President William Ruto’s administration while positioning himself as a key figure ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Nyamu’s statement is particularly notable given her political history with Gachagua. During the dramatic impeachment proceedings in 2024, she publicly acknowledged having worked closely with him before eventually supporting the motion that removed him from office.
At the time, she argued that political decisions should be guided by principles rather than personal relationships.
Political observers now see Nyamu’s latest remarks as an indication that alliances ahead of the 2027 elections may remain fluid.
While some Kenyans interpreted her comments as a joke, others believe she could be hinting at possible future political realignments involving key national figures.
As political temperatures continue to rise, it remains to be seen whether Nyamu’s prediction will eventually come true or remain just another controversial statement in Kenya’s ever-changing political arena.
