Meru Businessman cum politician Michael Makarina has come out and called for the closure of Kameme FM and TV station.
In a statement issued today morning, Makarina has accused the Kameme FM/TV stations of irresponsible journalism.
According to the Businessman, what is happening at the stations especially during the shows hosted by Gatonye mbugua and Muthoni Wa Kithumba is a disgrace to responsible journalism.
He accused the Media Station of allowing presenters to turn public airwaves to platforms for political propaganda, character assassination and divisive rhetoric instead of a balanced debate.
Hence, he has called on Communication Authority of Kenya to do their job, close Kameme FM/TV Stations and to hold them to account.
"You cannot continue watching from the sidelines while sections of the media drift into sensationalism and division. Kenya has paid a heavy price before when reckless voices were allowed to dominate public discourse" Makarina said.
He also stressed that Broadcasters should be held to account. Makarina concluded his statement by calling for the closure of Kameme warning that it may sink Kenya into chaos
"Broadcasters must be held accountable and media houses must remember that their first duty is to inform the public responsibly, not to serve political interests.
It's time to close that kiosk before it sinks Kenya in chaos and mostly kikuyus working in other parts of the country." Michael Makarina.
