President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, engaged residents in a charged exchange over the 2027 presidential race as he downplayed Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's chance of defeating President William Ruto.
Kibet, who had toured the region for a development function, attended the launch of classroom construction at Mayuge Primary School in Malava Constituency.
The event, which was also attended by several Members of Parliament from Western Kenya and beyond, quickly turned political as the President’s close ally sought to rally support for the government.
In a moment that electrified the crowd, Kibet invited Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse to the stage and posed a direct question to residents: whom would they choose between Mutuse and Kalonzo Musyoka in a hypothetical contest.
The response from the crowd was swift, with chants favoring Mutuse and dismissing Kalonzo.
