"No Protests, It's Our Time to Eat" Junet Mohamed Takes a Swipe at Orengo Ahead of Gen Z Protest

Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has dismissed calls for fresh protests, taking a direct swipe at Siaya Governor James Orengo amid tension ahead of the planned Gen Z-led demonstrations.

Speaking during a church service in Kochia, Homa Bay County, Junet made it clear that leaders aligned to the broad-based government would not participate in the protests. He emphasized that the current political moment calls for development and consolidation rather than street demonstrations.

In a remark directed at Orengo, Junet said leaders must understand the difference between the time for agitation and the time to enjoy the fruits of leadership. “Orengo needs to understand that there is a time for protests and a time to harvest. We are now in the season of harvesting,” Junet stated, drawing reactions from the congregation.

Junet’s comments highlight the deepening divisions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), with one faction supporting collaboration with President William Ruto’s administration, while another faction insists on maintaining a strong opposition stance.
