Political Showdown Looms As Sources Reveals Why Ruto-Uhuru Rivalry Is Emerging Again Ahead Of 2027

The rivalry between president William Ruto and former president Uhuru Kenyatta is far from over, after Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday launched a sharp attack on his successor, President William Ruto, urging Kenyans to ensure he is not re-elected in 2027.

He said that instead of addressing the economic hardships facing citizens, the Kenya Kwanza administration has chosen to engage in blame games and ethnic politics.

In what appeared to be preparations for another political showdown in 2027, Mr. Kenyatta reminded Kenyans that he had warned them in 2022 against electing the current administration.

Mr. Kenyatta had supported the late ODM leader Raila Odinga under the Azimio la Umoja coalition during the 2022 election, but they were defeated by President Ruto, who was then Deputy President.
