The incident came to light on Monday night after the suspect's father reported the matter to police.
According to investigators, the father informed officers that his son, Allan Ndung'u Warui, had admitted to assaulting his girlfriend, Quinter Adhiambo, during an argument at their rented single-room house near the Cyber Verse Complex in the Mastore area of Juja Farm.
Police said the suspect allegedly told his father that the disagreement turned violent and that he struck the woman during the altercation.
Officers rushed to the house after receiving the report and found Quinter's body lying on the floor. Preliminary investigations revealed no visible external injuries on the body.
However, detectives recovered blood stains from the floor, suggesting that a struggle may have taken place inside the house before her death.
Investigators also recovered a broken piece of glass stained with blood, which was collected as evidence to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The scene was examined by detectives and crime scene officers from Juja, working alongside officers from Abbasalama Police Post, as they gathered evidence to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
Following the report, the suspect was escorted to the police station by his father, where he was arrested and placed in custody.
Police said he is expected to be arraigned in court to face a murder charge once investigations are completed.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination, which is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
Police have since launched comprehensive investigations into the incident as they seek to establish all the events that led to the fatal confrontation.
