Stop the Fake Propaganda: Outspoken MP Blows the Whistle on 'What Baba Told Me' Narrative

Stop this goon culture before its too late, MP Millie Odhiambo warns

The fragile calm within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has completely shattered after Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo launched a scathing attack against public figures weaponizing the memory of the late opposition icon, Raila Odinga, for personal gain.

Taking to her social media platforms on Monday morning, June 8, 2026, the long-serving and fiercely independent legislator issued a stern warning to political opportunists to permanently cease exploiting the fallen leader’s legacy for cheap, regional mileage.

The fiery public reprimand was triggered by a controversial, televised interview broadcast on Sunday evening, where Raila’s long-time former spokesperson, Dennis Onyango, shared intimate details of private conversations he allegedly held with the ODM leader before his demise.

Onyango’s expansive disclosures touched on highly sensitive matters, including the veteran politician’s final political preferences, internal family dynamics, and a bitter, retrogressive post-mortem of the chaotic 2022 presidential campaign.

“Post the death of Baba Raila Amollo Odinga, we had a season of ‘what Baba told me’. It had become too boring and fake and mercifully started dying out.

It should not be resurrected for political and self-serving reasons. Let us learn the art of uniting people without cheap propaganda.” Millie Odhiambo, Suba North MP

A visibly disgusted Odhiambo did not mince her words, directly labeling the sudden wave of "what Baba told me" narratives as boring, fabricated, and self-serving bedtime stories designed to manipulate emotions rather than foster genuine national unity.

Beyond Odhiambo’s immediate wrath, Onyango’s broadcast effectively reopened deep wounds by squarely blaming constitutional law expert Professor Makau Mutua for Azimio la Umoja's narrow loss to President William Ruto in the 2022 polls.

The former spokesperson aggressively claimed that Mutua’s micromanagement of the campaign secretariat effectively sidelined seasoned political strategists, failing to separate professional administrative boundaries from personal interactions.

While Onyango attempted to soften his remarks by painting Raila as an eternal optimist who focused heavily on long-term democracy initiatives, current lawmakers insist that peddling unverified private conversations reduces a monumental national tragedy to mere political merchandise.
