Before Announcing the Flag Bearer, Here Is What Each Member of the United Opposition Will Have to Do

Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that opposition leaders have intensified preparations for the 2027 General Election by focusing on mobilising support in their respective political strongholds.

The strategy, he said, is intended to strengthen the coalition before a joint presidential candidate is selected.

According to Gachagua, each opposition principal has been assigned the responsibility of consolidating support in regions where they have significant political influence.

He explained that the coalition wants to build a solid national network first before beginning discussions on who will carry the alliance's presidential flag in the next election.

The former Deputy President noted that the opposition remains committed to working together despite having several influential leaders with presidential ambitions.

He expressed confidence that unity within the coalition would enable them to agree on a single candidate through consultations once the mobilisation exercise is complete.

Gachagua emphasized that the current focus is not on individual ambitions but on strengthening the alliance across the country.

He urged supporters to remain united and continue backing their respective leaders as preparations for the highly anticipated election gather pace.

The opposition coalition has continued to hold meetings and public engagements aimed at expanding its support base in different parts of the country.

Political observers believe the early mobilisation efforts could play a key role in determining the coalition's strength ahead of the official campaign period.

As the race toward the 2027 General Election gradually takes shape, attention is expected to shift to how the opposition will manage the process of choosing its joint flag bearer.

Many Kenyans will be watching closely to see whether the coalition can maintain unity while balancing the interests of its various leaders.

The latest remarks by Gachagua have added fresh momentum to the political conversation, with supporters and critics alike keen to see how the opposition's strategy unfolds in the coming months as the battle for State House begins to take shape.
