The phone was reportedly stolen at Royal City Sanctuary near Superloaf Bakery in Kitengela town.
According to accounts shared by the device’s owner, the suspect initially appeared to have taken the phone without any immediate consequences.
However, events soon took a surprising turn as the thief began to use the stolen handset.
The owner said that after the phone was taken, the suspect started taking photos with the OPPO A17K.
While the thief believed he was keeping his actions private, the phone’s settings reportedly caused the images to be automatically transmitted to the owner’s email address.

As a result, the rightful owner received access to the photos that had been taken after the theft, including images captured by the thief while handling the device.
It was this unusual digital trail, the owner explained, that enabled them to identify the suspect.
As the photos continued to arrive in their inbox, the owner was able to match the images to the person involved in the theft, narrowing down who had taken the phone in the first place.
Following the identification, information later emerged pointing to a man believed to be behind the theft. It was reported that the suspect is known as Steve.
One source described Steve as a notorious gang leader operating in Kitengela, alleging that he has a reputation in the area.
The same source also claimed that Steve is frequently armed with a knife, and warned that he could pose a danger to members of the public.
