Uhuru Names Who Kenyans Could Chose In Election, Sparking A Heated Firestorm

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to maintain peace and unity ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying voters should be allowed to freely choose their preferred leaders without ethnic or political divisions.

Speaking in Kitale, Uhuru emphasized that elections should be decided by the people and not influenced by violence, intimidation or inflammatory political rhetoric.

He cited several politicians who could feature prominently in the 2027 presidential contest, including President William Ruto, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

“Wakenya wakiamua ni Ruto, ni Ruto,” Uhuru said, stressing that Kenyans have the democratic right to choose whichever candidate they want.
