Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba has dismissed reports circulating on social media that school fees will increase next year.
Speaking to the press, the CS described the claims as false and misleading, urging parents and guardians not to panic.
According to Ogamba, the government has not made any decision to raise school fees in public schools.
He assured the public that the Ministry of Education remains committed to ensuring that education stays affordable and accessible to all learners across the country.
The CS emphasized that such rumors are meant to cause unnecessary fear among parents as schools prepare to reopen for the next academic year.
“The government has no plan to increase school fees. These reports are baseless and should be ignored,” Ogamba said.

Ogamba also reminded school heads to strictly follow the official fee guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education.
He warned that any institution found charging extra fees will face disciplinary action.
“We will not tolerate any school that goes against government policy.
Every child deserves access to education without extra financial pressure on their families,” he stated.
Parents have been expressing concern after rumors spread online that there would be a significant increase in school fees to cater for operational costs.
However, the CS reassured them that the government continues to provide adequate funding.

He also urged the public to seek information from official government channels and not to rely on unverified online sources.
“Before sharing or believing any report, please confirm it with the Ministry of Education,” he advised.
