NEWS IN: Good News For Raila’s Family As Indian Community Unveils Plan To Do This In His Honour

A section of the Indian community in Kenya has unveiled plans to build a statue in honour of veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The proposed monument is set to be located in Nairobi’s Central Business District, symbolising respect for Odinga’s long and influential political journey.

According to the organizers, the idea is to create a permanent landmark that reflects the admiration and goodwill many Kenyans, including minority groups, hold for the former prime minister.

The project aims to celebrate his contribution to Kenya’s democracy, unity, and public service.

The group is expected to make formal submissions on October 27, 2025.

On that day, they will send official letters to President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja requesting approval for the construction site.

Both national and county governments will have to review the proposal and decide on the most suitable location within the city center.

If approved, the statue will stand as a lasting tribute to Odinga’s decades of public service and political leadership.

It will also serve as a cultural bridge, showing how Kenya’s diverse communities find common ground in shared respect for leaders who have shaped the nation’s history.

The initiative comes at a time when conversations about memorializing national figures have been gaining attention.

Many Kenyans believe that such monuments help preserve the memory of leaders whose work has influenced the country’s growth and democracy.
