Wanga Claims Uhuru Rejected Luo Requests for Top Govt CSs, PSs Posts During Handshake Period With Raila Odinga

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has stirred political debate after alleging that leaders from the Luo community unsuccessfully sought senior government appointments during the period of cooperation between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking during the burial of Doris Okello, the mother of Nyando MP Jared Okello, Wanga claimed that community leaders appealed to President Kenyatta for at least one Cabinet Secretary or Principal Secretary position but their request was not granted.

According to the governor, the response they received was that they should remain patient and focus on the prospect of eventually securing the presidency. 

She suggested that the anticipated political reward never materialized despite the community's support during the handshake period.
