Likoni MP Mishi Mboko has launched a fresh attack on the opposition, insisting that leaders seeking to challenge President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election have little to show for their past years in government.
Speaking at a public event at the Coast, Mboko claimed that opposition leaders were struggling to convince Kenyans because of what she described as a lack of tangible development records.
She singled out Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, arguing that his tenure as Vice President did not bring meaningful projects to the Coastal region.
"Wapinzani wamechanganyikiwa. Kalonzo hata akiwa makamu wa rais hakuleta chochote hapa Pwani; Pwani tuko imara kwa Ruto," Mboko said while urging residents to continue supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Mboko maintained that President Ruto's administration has continued rolling out development initiatives across the Coast, including infrastructure projects, land reforms, and economic empowerment programmes. She argued that these efforts have strengthened public confidence in the government.
Her comments also reflect the growing political contest over the Coast region, which has traditionally been regarded as an opposition stronghold.
In recent months, senior government officials and opposition figures have intensified visits to Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, and neighbouring counties as they seek to consolidate support before the 2027 polls.
The latest remarks are expected to trigger responses from opposition leaders, who have consistently criticised the Kenya Kwanza government over the cost of living, taxation, and economic management.
As political activity gathers momentum across the country, both sides are expected to continue making frequent visits to key regions in an effort to win over voters long before the official campaign period begins.
