Kenyans Online Name the Worst President in History as Uhuru Kenyatta Emerges in Position two

An informal online poll asking Kenyans to identify the worst president the country has ever had has returned a stinging verdict against President William Ruto, with half of all respondents voting him the most disappointing leader in Kenya's post-independence history.

The poll, posted on X by user Makau F. Mully, attracted 144 votes before closing, with results that paint a picture of deep public dissatisfaction with the current administration.

President Ruto topped the list with 50 per cent of the vote, followed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta at 30 per cent, retired President Daniel arap Moi at 12 per cent, and former President Mwai Kibaki at 8 per cent.

The results place Kibaki at the bottom of the worst rated list, effectively making him the most positively remembered president among those who participated, a finding consistent with his widely acknowledged legacy of economic growth, infrastructure development, and free primary education during his tenure between 2002 and 2013.

Moi's relatively low score of 12 per cent is also notable given that his 24-year rule was characterised by widespread human rights abuses, political repression, and economic mismanagement, a record that historians have generally judged harshly.

Ruto's 50 per cent score reflects the mounting public frustration over the rising cost of living, heavy taxation, and governance concerns that have dominated his administration since he took office in 2022.

It is important to note that this was an informal, unscientific online poll conducted on social media with only 144 participants.

It does not represent a statistically valid or nationally representative survey and should not be interpreted as an accurate reflection of the views of all Kenyans.
