Photos have emerged of Lornah Chebet, a Kenyan housemaid who lost her life in a tragic road accident in Saudi Arabia while working abroad to support her family.
A cloud of grief has descended on Kapsara in Kitale following the sudden death of the young woman, whose dream of building a brighter future for her loved ones ended in heartbreaking circumstances.
Chebet had relocated to the city of Abha in Saudi Arabia for employment.
According to reports, she was travelling with her employer, the employer's husband, and their two children on a journey to Riyadh when their vehicle was involved in a serious road accident.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save them, Chebet later succumbed to her injuries at Al Muzahmiyya General Hospital. The four-year-old child also died while receiving treatment.
The devastating news reached her family in Kenya through social media, leaving relatives shocked and heartbroken.
Her sister, Mercy Jepkemoi, later confirmed the tragedy in an emotional TikTok video.
She revealed that Chebet was the fourth born in a family of six and said the loss had caused immense pain to the family.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives have described Chebet as a hard-working and determined young woman who travelled abroad with hopes of improving the living standards of her family.
Plans are currently underway to repatriate her body to Kenya for burial as relatives continue to mourn her untimely death.
