In one such case, a dedicated Kitengela understudy, Julius Ledama, found himself in possession of Ksh 84,000 that had accidentally been sent to his M-Pesa account. Despite the temptation to keep the unexpected funds, Ledama chose to return the money to its rightful owner.
Ledama explained that he actually received about Ksh 77,821 after a Fuliza transaction of Ksh 5,500. Rather than benefiting from the mistake, he immediately contacted the sender and returned the money. He also settled the Ksh 4,800 Fuliza advance he had taken.
Ledama said his decision was guided by the belief that it would be wrong to keep money that someone else had worked hard to earn.

He added that he would make the same decision again if faced with a similar situation, regardless of whether the sender showed appreciation for his honesty.
