Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has described former President Uhuru Kenyatta as his political teacher, saying he would draw from Kenyatta’s leadership example if given the opportunity to lead Kenya.
Matiang’i made the remarks while reflecting on his years in government under Kenyatta and the lessons he gained while serving in the former president’s administration.
He praised Kenyatta’s record, saying his administration delivered projects and programmes whose impact could still be seen across the country.
“Uhuru ni mwalimu wangu na alifanya kazi inayoonekana Kenya hii, nitafuata NYAYO zake,” Matiang’i said.
The remarks come as political activity continues to intensify ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Election. Matiang’i has increasingly featured in political discussions surrounding the formation of a possible opposition alliance and has attended meetings involving several political leaders across the country.
