Orengo posted the image with the words, “When we hit the city, we ride with Baba’s spirit!” sparking debate online.
Miguna responded by rejecting the idea of political power being presented as something inherited.
He said Kenyans want an independent republic, not a monarchy where power is passed from one person to another.
His comments appeared to challenge the symbolism of the poster and the suggestion that Orengo could take up Raila’s political mantle.
In his response, Miguna also criticised Raila, claiming that the late opposition leader died while working with President William Ruto.
He accused Raila of betraying Gen Zs and said Kenyans had not forgotten.
Miguna then turned his attention to Orengo’s long political career, saying the governor has been an MP since he was in Form One.
Miguna went further, claiming that Orengo had failed in several political positions, including as an MP, senator, Cabinet minister and Siaya governor.
He also raised Orengo’s age before delivering a blunt message to him: “Orengo, retire.”
The remarks add another sharp voice to the political debate surrounding Orengo and the future of Raila’s political movement.
The poster shared by Orengo features Nairobi City Hall, Linda Mwananchi flags and the word “Kanairo,” while presenting him in traditional-style clothing on a decorated throne.
The image appears designed to show a leadership message ahead of the Nairobi gathering.
Miguna’s response has, however, shifted attention from the rally to questions about succession, age and whether younger leaders should take a bigger role in the movement.
