What Raila Would Have Done in 2027 if He Were Alive, Winnie Odinga Finally Reveals

East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member Winnie Odinga has shared what she believes her late father, Raila Odinga, would have done as Kenya prepares for the 2027 General Election.

According to Winnie, the country's current political and economic situation could have convinced the veteran leader to seek the presidency once again despite his cooperation with President William Ruto under the broad-based government arrangement.

Speaking during a recent interview, Winnie said the growing dissatisfaction among many Kenyans over governance and the pace of development might have influenced Raila to reconsider another presidential bid.

She explained that the changing political environment would likely have presented him with another opportunity to seek the country's highest office if he were still alive.

The EALA lawmaker noted that her father always remained deeply connected to the concerns of ordinary citizens throughout his political career.

She suggested that the issues currently facing the country would have been difficult for him to ignore, making another presidential campaign a real possibility.

Even so, Winnie clarified that her remarks should not be interpreted as criticism of President Ruto or the current administration.

Instead, she said they reflected her personal opinion about how Raila may have responded to the present political climate had he been alive today.

She also addressed speculation surrounding ODM's plans for the 2027 elections, insisting that the party has not yet decided whether it will field its own presidential candidate or support another contender.

According to Winnie, such a decision can only be made through the party's National Delegates Convention, where members will determine the direction ODM will take.
