Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has sparked a renewed political conversation by suggesting that President William Ruto could emerge as a powerful figure if he were to combine his political backing with the votes of former opposition leader Raila Odinga.

In his discussion of the 2022 presidential election results, Junet posed the question, “If you take Raila’s 7 million votes and add them to Ruto’s 7 million votes, what could stand in our way?” His comments have garnered significant attention and spread widely on social media.

Junet's statements highlight the potential political clout that could arise from uniting the two major voting factions that were previously adversaries in the 2022 presidential election.

According to the official 2022 election results, Ruto received about 7.18 million votes, while Raila garnered roughly 6.94 million, both reaching figures near seven million.

Combining their totals would yield a substantial political force. However, the key question remains whether supporters of one leader would readily shift their allegiance to another candidate or political coalition.
