Gladys Wanga Changes Tone, Names Unexpected Former President and Says Ruto Is Better Than Him

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has declared that ODM is now fully part of the government, arguing that the party currently considers President William Ruto a more favourable option than former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Wanga made the remarks while explaining ODM’s evolving political position and its cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration. Her comments reflect the increasingly close working relationship between sections of ODM and Ruto’s government.

According to Wanga, ODM should no longer be regarded as an opposition party, given its involvement in the affairs of the current administration. Her statement comes at a time when debate continues over the party’s political direction and its relationship with Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.

She also drew a comparison between Ruto and Kenyatta, stating that ODM currently views the sitting president as a better choice than his predecessor. However, she did not elaborate on the specific factors behind that assessment.
