“Professor wa Siasa Ameamka?” Ruto’s Legendary KCU Lexus Roars Back, Sending a 2027 Warning Shot

President William Ruto has triggered a wave of political nostalgia after boarding his famous Lexus during a tour of development projects in Kajiado County.

The moment quickly caught the attention of Kenyans, particularly because the vehicle was once a constant companion during Ruto’s political tours when he served as Deputy President.

Associated with registration number KCU 192H, the Lexus became one of the most recognisable vehicles in Ruto’s political journey. Its repeated appearance during his nationwide engagements made it closely linked to the politician’s image long before he became President.

During the latter years of his second term as Deputy President, Ruto frequently used the vehicle as he travelled across the country, attending public functions and holding political gatherings while building momentum for his 2022 presidential bid.

The Lexus eventually became part of the visual identity of Ruto’s political campaigns. Wherever it appeared, it often signalled the arrival of the then Deputy President and his growing political machinery.

Its significance became even greater during the final stretch of the 2022 presidential race, when Ruto intensified his nationwide campaigns. The vehicle was repeatedly seen on the campaign trail as he sought to consolidate support across different regions.

The Lexus was also used on the day Ruto made the historic transition from presidential candidate to Head of State. He arrived at Kasarani for his inauguration in the vehicle before later moving into an official presidential car after taking the oath of office.

That history is what made its appearance in Kajiado particularly striking. Although Ruto was in the county for development-related activities, Kenyans immediately connected the familiar vehicle with the political era in which it became famous.

Online reactions ranged from nostalgia to speculation, with some jokingly asking whether “Professor wa Siasa Ameamka” after seeing Ruto once again behind the wheel of one of the vehicles most associated with his political rise.

The reaction comes at a politically charged time, with parties and politicians already positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election. Consequently, seemingly ordinary moments involving well-known political symbols can quickly become subjects of public discussion.

There is, however, no indication that Ruto’s use of the Lexus in Kajiado was linked to a campaign event. His appearance in the vehicle came as he toured development projects in the county.

Still, the sight was enough to revive memories of the relentless political campaigner who travelled across Kenya in the same vehicle while building the coalition and support base that eventually took him to State House.
