A dark cloud has fallen over Bureti constituency after the painful death of a 40-year old beloved History and Kiswahili teacher, Chepkemoi Martina Rutto.
Her journey to death was heartbreaking and no one ever thought she would endure a tragic death after she was reported to be missing.
According to reputable sources, she was reported missing on Wednesday 26 August 2026 after leaving her home in located in Abosi for her workplace, Lalagin Secondary School in Bureti constituency. However, she never arrived to work.
Before she vanished, Chepkemoi had been silently struggling and a report on the Standard Media group disclosed that she had reportedly sought a transfer from Lalagin Secondary School, hoping for a fresh start. Earlier reports had indicated that she had deeply wished to get a transfer and move near her marital home.

Aside from that, Mr Rutto had also confided in those close to her that her marriage was facing serious difficulties probably due to the fact that she was living separately from her husband, who also works as a senior school teacher in Nairobi. Unfortunately, no one knew those would be her last cries for help.
Seven days later after her absence from public view, her relatives and friends were left shattered when her body was not only found lifeless and floating on a river, but had five deep stab wounds on the chest.
In a more devastating revelation, reports are now emerging that teacher Chepkemoi could have been sexually assaulted before she was brutally killed.
Meanwhile, police officers have launched probe into what led to the untimely demise of a woman who only wanted a transfer and peace in her marriage, before she met such a cruel end, leaving her family, students, and the entire Abosi village in tears.
