Deputy Party Leader of the Jubilee Party, Dr. Fred Matiang'i, and ODM Secretary General and leader of the Linda Mwananchi movement, Edwin Sifuna, have entered into a political partnership aimed at ensuring one of them clinches the opposition's presidential ticket.
According to Taifa Leo, the two leaders met at Karen, Nairobi pictured together after their meeting and agreed to work jointly ahead of the opposition's negotiations on who will carry the flag in 2027.
At the heart of their strategy is voter registration. The alliance is targeting the Western and Nyanza regions, with a goal of registering more than five million new voters.

The calculation is straightforward: by delivering a massive voter bloc from the two regions, they would strengthen their bargaining power when opposition principals sit at the table to choose a flagbearer.
The headline, "Sifuna, Matiang'i Wapangana," comes at a time when the opposition field is increasingly crowded.
The paper notes that "huku viongozi tofauti wa upinzani wakimezea tikiti ya kuwania urais 2027, wawili hawa wabuni mbinu mpya" while different opposition leaders eye the 2027 ticket, these two have invented a new approach.
Matiang'i, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary, has been re-emerging as a central figure in Jubilee after a period out of the public spotlight.
Sifuna, a vocal Nairobi Senator and ODM official, has been building his own grassroots platform through Linda Mwananchi.
If successful, their combined influence in Western Matiang'i's Gusii backyard and Sifuna's Luhya base and Nyanza, traditionally an ODM stronghold, could make them kingmakers in the opposition coalition talks.
