President William Ruto’s chances of securing a second term in the 2027 General Election have received a fresh prediction from Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi.
Ahmednasir has predicted that Ruto will retain the presidency, but warned that the race could be much harder than the president’s supporters expect. According to the lawyer, Ruto could be forced into another close contest as he seeks to cross the constitutional 50-plus-one threshold.
The prediction comes at a time when political activity is increasing across the country, with both the government and opposition camps preparing for the next election.
Ahmednasir argued that Ruto could have been heading for a much bigger victory if his administration had taken stronger action on issues such as corruption, governance and law and order. He suggested that some decisions made by the government have also affected the president’s popularity.
